What is Alpha-Stim?
Alpha-Stim is a clinically proven medical device that relieves anxiety, insomnia, and depression using a method called cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES). It is simple and comfortable to use and involves applying a low electrical current through clips attached to the ear lobes for 20 – 60 minutes. Alpha-Stim has been highly researched, widely tested, and FDA approved. It has no significant side effects and has been shown to be highly effective in numerous studies.
Alpha-Stim has been a successful adjunct to therapy for many of my clients. If it may be appropriate for you, we can discuss the option of using it during our sessions.
Alpha-Stim development
Western medicine is beginning to understand the electro-chemical basis of biological processes. These are concepts that have been long understood in ancient Eastern cultures though descriptions of Ch’i (Chinese), Ki (Japanese) and Prana (Indian) which describe energy flow.
Dr. Daniel Kirsch, a neurobiologist, created Alpha-Stim technology after studying eastern models of medicine in the 1970’s. He was able to combine traditional and contemporary theories of bioelectric medicine to create microcurrent electrical technology which activates the body’s natural electrical impulses to control pain and reduce anxiety. The first Alpha-Stim unit was released in 1981 and has proven to be a safer and often more effective option than medication for the treatment of anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
